North Canyon IB Program

I just wanted to let you know that the International Baccalaureate (IB) Program at North Canyon High School is beginning informational meetings for application into our program. Our IB Program is designed for the highly motivated student who desires a challenge. Those students who are good at reading, writing, and math; are open to new ideas; and are tolerant of different cultures and beliefs are perfect for IB. For more information about the International Baccalaureate Program in general, please look at the International Baccalaureate Organization’s webpage at http://www.ibo.org. In addition, should you have any specific questions of NCHS-IB or need any of our application forms, I have posted our application time-line, IB application, application checklist, and program overview on our school website at http://cmweb.pvschools.net/nchsweb/IB.html.

In addition, I am attaching a letter that you could give to those students you think would make excellent candidates. As in the past, please note the inclusion of 7th graders and their parents. It has been brought to our attention by numerous parents that this information could've helped them when they made their course selections for 8th grade. However, our IB presentation is meant to be purely informational for the 7th graders as the application process is only open to 8th graders.

If students and their parents would like to learn more about this challenging program, they should plan to attend the IB presentation held in the North Canyon auditorium, 1700 E. Union Hills Dr., from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m., Tuesday, September 25, 2007. At this time, they will have the opportunity to meet some of the parents, students, and counselors involved in our IB program. They will also receive specific information on the application process and will be able to sign up, and pay for the Explore exam.

Thank you for your assistance in making this opportunity available for your students. If you have any questions, please contact me at 623-780-4363.

Yours very truly,
Robert Black
